RE: Almeria 2010 - Antonio247 - 14-10-2009 I´ve got an email from the hotel in whch they confirm ten rooms for the days 30th, 31st January and 1st February 2010. We´ll have to confirm the exact number of rooms and the names of the guests a few days before. Ladyrunner, Tracey & I have booked our flights. Antonio, thank you for looking into the hotel. I look forward to meeting you again! Simon RE: Almeria 2010 - ladyrunner - 14-10-2009 Yes as Simon says flights have been booked for myself, Simon and Tracey K (a newbie). Aer Lingus out and EasyJet PM flight back to/from Malaga. I am really looking forward to our little winters break hopefully in the sunshine. It's two weeks for me before the training begins. Yes thank you Antonio and I'm also looking forward to meeting you again soon. Mollys - Sweder - 14-10-2009 Crikey, I'd best get onto Molly Malone about beefing up her keg supplies! Remember what happened last time ... RE: Almeria 2010 - Antonio247 - 14-10-2009 I´m also looking forward to meeting all of you, amig@s. I´ll tell Molly Malone to fill up their keg supplies for that long weekend, Sw. By the way, the pub has changed its name although it keeps the same atmosphere and some notices with Molly Mallone in it still remain. Fortunately, you will be able to sit next to John Lennon on a bench just opposite the pub. It´s been taken there from the Rambla. Yes, you drank the place dry on the first night! I'm slightly nervous about asking you but ... do they still serve Guinness on draft?[/size] Oh dear, I'm going to have to lie down for a bit. Or maybe head off to Hurleys to restore my faith in human nature ... RE: Almeria 2010 - El Gordo - 14-10-2009 Did the previous owners sell up and flee Almeria shortly after this year's half marathon weekend, by any chance? What's the new name? And yes, that Guinness question is all-important. RE: Almeria 2010 - ladyrunner - 15-10-2009 Antonio has attached a photo of the name changed Molly's to his thread. It looks like it is called Burana now (or something like that)!! Was that statue of John Lennon there last year as I don't recall seeing it but I did rush in and out in heavy rain and darkness ? LR RE: Almeria 2010 - Sweder - 15-10-2009 Antonio said the statue was moved there recently from another location. Sorry, too tired to scroll back on this tiddly sodding screen. It's 5.15 am here & I'm thinkng about a pre-dawn scuttle up the Big Hill. It's also gently snowing and this bed is very, very warm ... : ( RE: Almeria 2010 - Antonio247 - 16-10-2009 (15-10-2009, 08:49 AM)ladyrunner Wrote: Antonio has attached a photo of the name changed Molly's to his thread. It looks like it is called Burana now (or something like that)!! Well, LR, actually the statue was at la Rambla but it was taken to get restored because John Lennon´s glassed had been removed. I don´t know if it was at the Rambla this year on those days. You´re right, LR, the pub is called Burana now. Saludos desde Almería RE: Almeria 2010 - Seafront Plodder - 11-11-2009 I was always up for this but was waiting for Claire to stop faffing and decide before booking. Well she's in, so we'll book shortly. We're still deciding whether to stay a few extra days after though. Don't forget, the race is free to everyone who experienced the farce of earlier this year. That's €4 saved then. RE: Almeria 2010 - Antonio247 - 11-11-2009 I´m glad you both can come, SP. If you decide to stay a few more days and need any help about where to go or stay, just tell me. I´d suggest going to Granada, La Alpujarra, Sierra Nevada,if you like the snow, etc. I forgot it would be free for those who entered at the half marathon or 10 km race this year. Let´s hope the organisation hasn´t forgotten. Best of luck at Brighton 10 km on Sunday. SP -- are you rising to the half marathon challenge? Or are you wimping out? M and I stayed a few extra days the first year we were there. Presuming you have a car, there are plenty of pleasant and interesting places east of Almeria. Mountain-top villages set back from the sea, that sort of thing. Almeria: Update - who's in? - Sweder - 12-12-2009 Speaking to Me Julie today I realised it's time to sort out hire cars for the transfer from Malaga to Almeria. I'll start a list (below) of those I'm fairly sure about plus possible/ probables. There may be others coming via Easyjet direct to/ from Almeria Friday/ Monday. If you're planning/ have booked flights via Malaga (out Saturday/ back Tuesday) please add your name to the 'definites' list. Ladyrunner & I will book cars next week in order to get best possible rates. Definites El Gordo Seafront Plodder Sweder Ladyrunner Simon Ho & Tracey Possibles Down-in-One Gillybean MSilv Tom Roper (+ 1?) If it ends up being 8 we'll either need one minibus (9-seater) or 2 saloon cars. I'll check the options out this weekend and report findings. If 9 or 10 then 2 cars, if more than 10 at least one mini-bus and 1 car. 2 vehicles might be better anyway if there's little difference in cost; this offers flexibility for those who'd prefer not to run in the Sierra Almahilla Monday Mountain Plummet. As always thoughts/ opinions actively encouraged RE: Almeria 2010 - Sweder - 14-12-2009 Gillybean & MSilv looking to book flights this week - hoorah! So that'll be 7 confirmed via LGW. RE: Almeria 2010 - Antonio247 - 14-12-2009 That´s great. By the way, I met Sergio yesterday while we were training and told me that the website will be updated soon. He also confirmed me that the races - the half and the 10 km race - will be on Sunday 31st December. Let´s hope they don´t make the same mistake this year and don´t take the wrong course.
