RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - Mid Life Crisis Marathon Man - 15-11-2009 As I'm typing this it's beer o'clock here and there's 40 minutes to go to race time there. The weather looks good (from what I can see on the limited Brighton webcams) so a good race should be had. Best of luck everyone - looking forward to the race reports. Cheers! RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - El Gordo - 16-11-2009 Full credit to SP, who came in around 57 minutes. Whether I will believe another word he utters about his supposed training and level of fitness is a matter to be discussed at another time. For now, let's all congratulate the fellow on a very fine PB. Well done lad. I trailed in at 62:56, which is 1 minute less slow than last year, so I'm OK with that. RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - Mid Life Crisis Marathon Man - 16-11-2009 Excellent! You're well on track then EG. Good work. Pictures? RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - Sweder - 16-11-2009 Top effort from my man - curry & Guinness, training regimine of champions! Though I was somewhat distrurbed to observe the aftermath of some recent macabre nocturnal event as he changed shirt after the race ... having those nipple rings removed must've hurt like Billy-o ... SP SP-EL Gordo SP-EL Gordo Ash had quite a few more but these were the ones he sent me. RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - suzieq - 16-11-2009 Congratualtions to you both on a well run race! Nice to have a bit of competition as it probably made you both run a little faster than you might have. Way to go! [with_stirring_action]The difference between us is that SP has now reached his limit, whereas I'm still steaming forward. I would like to prove this in Almeria, but sadly, he's not up for the half marathon challenge.[/with_stirring_action] ![]() RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - Antonio247 - 16-11-2009 Congratulations, amigos. It´s going to be difficult to beat you at Almería half. Great report, EG. It made me remember my Brighton race just two years ago and the post race meal. Hasta pronto See you soon RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - marathondan - 17-11-2009 Yes, well done to EG, SP and "Grandad" Tom Roper on your performances. EG - those dodgy water stops must have cost you 2:56? SP - wot no Almeria half? You seem to be well into the groove both training and race-wise. Yeah, what happened to the sub-2 attempt??? I'm in training as a pacer y'know ... Come on man - pull yourself together ... ![]() RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - Seafront Plodder - 17-11-2009 err...I don't recall saying I wouldn't be doing the half. I've just not committed to it yet. Indeed I may volunteer meself to pace EG to a sub 60 minute 10K ![]() But Dan's right, my prolific progress to date should be built upon. ![]() RE: Brighton 10K, 2009 - Sweder - 18-11-2009 (17-11-2009, 03:21 PM)Seafront Plodder Wrote: Now Sweder if you are serious about pacing a sub-2 hour half...? Absolutely. With my current, er, break in training I'll be happy to pace the run. I worked out timings for this year. You should be running tempo runs - or short 'race pace' sessions - at around 9 minute per mile pace. Your 10K pace at Brighton was a shade slower than that. The good news is you've got two and a half months to work up to that over twice the distance. We'll get some hill work in when I get back, followed by somme quality rehydration ![]() |
