Mud - Sweder - 26-10-2011

Heavy overnight rain has turned my regular circuit into a mudslide. A persistent south westerly added to the five mile challenge this morning. My legs ached from running every day since Saturday (the sequence is longer if I can count golf on Friday as cross-training), ideal training for P2P; slogging uphill in a biting wind on horribly tired legs.

The Children with Diabetes Friends for Life conference kicks off (for me) at Windsor tomorrow so this may be my last outing for a few days. It's a full-on event with 500 people (200 more than last year), lectures, classrooms, childrens' sessions and Sports Central (my domain once the exhibits are all set up). Face painting, halloween parties, late evenings in the bar with the CWD team ... I'm knackered just thinking about it. I'll pack my runners but I doubt they'll see much action.

I've set up a morning run with Ladyrunner and her delightful new pup for early next week. That will start off another unbroken chain ending in a super-tough 20k Snake run on the following Sunday, my last long run before P2P. After that it's light leg-spinners, feet up, G&Ts all round and let the chips fall where they may. It's nowhere near enough but it's all I can squeeze in at the moment. This rag-tag collection of sessions will simply have to do.
