Brighton 10K, Sunday November 20 - El Gordo - 10-10-2005

I've just entered this event online at

https://www.activeeurope.com/Events/index.cfm?AC=EventDetails&E=34834

I did it a couple of years ago. It's a big 10K - about 2000 entrants, and it fills up well before the day. When I entered,it said that tomorrow was the final day for online entries, but this might be scaremongering.

The race starts and finishes on Madeira Drive, and goes along the seafront. Dead flat. A little bit chaotic as you bound along the pavement among the bemused day-trippers, but that's part of its charm.

A good kick-off for training for all these spring marathons??

Definately going in for this one, despite the recent absence of training, form etc.
This is the first segment of the Brighton Half - the second 10K is the hilly bit which I love in late February but would not enjoy next month.

A good opportunity for RC Forumites to come together?
There's a number of very reasonable pasta joints located along the seafront where a glass or two may be shared over some gentle banter.

Good news Sweder - but MAKE SURE YOU ENTER NOW!!

The latest I heard was that they had just about reached their limit and that today would be the cut-off for online entries.

A spot of post-race lunch and a glass or two of something cheering sounds like a plan to me.

Brighton 10K, Sunday November 20 - Seafront Plodder - 11-10-2005

Well despite not having run since early August due to a debilitating case of apathy, I have just registered online and am in!

Guess I need just this kind of incentive to get my ample arse in gear. 6 weeks to get up to 10k should be do-able with a bit of determination.

Let the plodding begin!

Well done, SP.

6 weeks is definitely a reasonable preparation for chaps of our athletic prowess and pedigree.

Talking of Pedigree, I might have to wander up to the village for a pint or two of Marston's this evening, and plan my approach to the race.....

Made it - just.
Having devoted my evening selflessly to my long-suffering wife on this, our wedding anniversary, by loudly cheering on the England U21s as they trounced Poland 4-1 with a style their overpaid seniors can only dream of, I rounded the evening off with a spot of last-ditch race registration.

Nigel's registered, though he's not sure if he'll make it yet.
SP's in, Andy L was there a while ago . . .

. . . just waiting for Suzie and Antonio then.
