Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - Antonio247 - 27-10-2004

Andy, I´ve checked and there are three rooms avalaible for Friday, Saturday and Sunday 28th, 29th and 30th January 2005.
The price is 50 euros a room each night, VAT included.

Bye for now.

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - El Gordo - 27-10-2004

Thanks Antonio.

We want to book three rooms for just Saturday and Sunday please.

Nigel may want to go out on the Friday, but he will let you know shortly.

I may want to extend beyond the Sunday, but again I'll let you know. Let's get the rooms reserved for Sat and Sun, and worry about these other possibilities later.

How do we arrange this? Perhaps you can reserve the rooms and I can pay by credit card? Please ask them how they want us to do this. I can send you, or them, my card details and SP and Nigel can sort it out with me.

Please let us know.

Cheers mate.

Andy L

Just a reminder: I'm going with my wife, Nigel and SP are travelling alone. The hotel may want to know this.

Sorry, I haven´t answered before but I´ve had some problems to get into the forum.

I´ve booked three nights and three rooms. When Nigel confirms that he´s coming on Friday, I´ll cancel two rooms for that day if you both are coming on Saturday. When you know which flight/s you are coming, please tell me to know when I´ll pick you up at the airport.

Don´t worry about the money, Andy. I´ll get the vouchers at a travel agency and you can pay me in Almería. This way it is cheaper than booking at the hotel.

Best Wishes

Antonio

Thanks for your help, Antonio. I'll send you a private message or email about the details.

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - Nigel - 28-10-2004

Sorry about the delay there, Antonio.

For mission-critical and strategic reasons, I've been persuaded to travel out with my team captain and our New York hero.

That means I'm travelling out Saturday after all, and home on Monday. Same outward flight as Andy and SP.

Hasta pronto !

It will be great to welcome you all at Almería airport on Saturday 29th January.

¡Hasta la vista, amigos!

C'mon Brian, we need you as our pacemaker.

If necessary, fly back to England, and catch the same flight as us out to Almeria. Smile

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - El Gordo - 30-10-2004

Flights from Stansted now about £18. Going up all the time....

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - Seafront Plodder - 30-10-2004

Have you booked yet Andy?

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - El Gordo - 30-10-2004

Yep. I'm on the same flight as you going out, and will be returning on the Thursday.

Not yet sure what we'll do between Monday and Thursday. Might hire a car for a few days, or just veg out in Almeria - depends how much there is to see and do. We've not been there before.

When are you off to NY?

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - Antonio247 - 30-10-2004

Andy, I´ve had a look at the price of the rooms at the hotel you´re staying at on Saturday and Sunday and from Monday to Thursday it is 100 euros a night with the voucher system. I think that the town of Almería can be visited in just one or two days. However, if you want to know the province, you´ll need more days. If you want to rest, I advised you a hotel in Mojácar, which is quite good and at a very low price at that season. It is about 90 kms from Almería. A car would be advisable to go for several trips.

Nevertheless, if you don´t know Granada, it is worth visiting especially in winter since in summer it is too hot. You could go by train, coach or car on Monday morning or afternoon and come back on Thursday to take your plane back home. I´ve seen you can get several 4 star hotels for just 50 euros with the voucher system. I could book the room for you as well, if you like. Granada is quite beautiful with the Alhambra, Generalife, Albaicín, etc. Besides, you could go to Sierra Nevada to ski or have a walk on the snow at the ski resort.

Well, if you need any more help, please don´t hesitate to tell me.

Thanks for the info, Antonio.

100 Euros would be a bit expensive for Monday to Thursday, so we'll take your advice and move on at that point. Quite where, and how we'll travel, we'll look into and let you know.

Did you manage to reserve the rooms for Nigel, SP and me (+1) for Sat and Sunday?

Cheers

Andy

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - Antonio247 - 30-10-2004

Yes. I booked them last Wednesday. I booked three rooms, a double room for you and M., another room for Andy SP and the third one for Nigel. I´ve already cancelled the rooms for Friday night. Anyway, if anyone else felt like coming, I could book more rooms if they´re available. By the way, this evening we went by the hotel and there were a lot of well dressed guests waiting for a just married couple to go to the lounge where dinner was celebrated.

Greetings from Almería

Antonio

Antonio - I just wanted to let you know that I'm seriously thinking of joining the group in your home town and doing the half marathon. There's just a little glitch that I have to work out, and then hopefully I'll be booking a flight from Canada to London to Spain! I'll probably just stay the weekend as well, leave on Monday. Don't book a hotel as yet for me - I'll let you know as soon as I can (within two weeks) whether I'll be flying over or not. Be great to meet you and the others and have fun running a race together!

Suzie

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - Antonio247 - 10-11-2004

How good to hear from you, Suzie! It´d be great if you could also come to Almería. I´d love to meet all of you here. When you know if you can come, just tell me to book a room in the same hotel if you like.

Best wishes

Antonio

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - suzieq - 12-11-2004

Well, I decided not to wait and went ahead and booked my flight. So I'll be joining all of you for the half marathon! I got on the same flight on Saturday and will be leaving on the Monday.
Could I ask you to book me a room at the hotel Antonio? That would be great.
Sure looking forward to this little holiday. Will it be warm at that time of year?

See you all very soon!

Suzie

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - Seafront Plodder - 12-11-2004

If you're making the effort to get there from Canada, we'll have no problem convincing Brian to go.

Might even set to work on MLC Man.

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - El Gordo - 12-11-2004

Hurrah! Well done Suzie.

Average temperature I think is about 55F at that time. Not hot, but not freezing.

Almería half marathon. 30th January 2006 - Antonio247 - 12-11-2004

How wonderful, Suzie. I´ll book a room for you tomorrow since It´s a bit late here now. 11.30 pm. I think there won´t be any problem to get a room in the same hotel as Andy L, Andy B and Nigel using the voucher system as well.

This is going to be a really international event. Runners from Europe and America. Besides, there are always a few fast Africans from Kenya and Morocco who run the half under one hour five minutes. If we could persuade MLCM to come, it would be really cosmopolitan. I hope you´ll get better soon, MLCM. It´d great if Brian ( Riazor Blues ) could also come, although Almería is better and cheaper communicated with London than with the rest of Spain.

It shouldn´t be cold since the temperatures are usually quite mild but you never know. At least, it won´t be hot but it may be warm. However, it could also be a bit cold. I hope it´ll be all right. The average temperature in January must be around 18º Celsius. Last year, although on Saturday it was a sunny day, Sunday morning was quite misty but I enjoyed the race more than when it was hotter.

Well, I´m looking forward to meeting you all at Almería airport on Saturday 29th January.

Hasta la vista

Antonio
