Pleasant surprise and a good idea?! - Mid Life Crisis Marathon Man - 14-01-2004

Just staggered back from my 5km/3mi coronary to discover my letterbox stuffed with a set of no-less-than EIGHT comprehensive, waterproof maps of my city's bike lanes and walk ways (hence running paths), provided *FREE* (well, if you exclude taxes, rego fees etc) by the local transport authority. What a blast! I am not going to get any work done today, I can tell - I'll be pouring over my new maps working out new run routes, mileages etc. Bliss!

If you're a mapoholic like me, it could well be worth checking out your local government authorities for similar maps in your area.

I like the waterproofing especially :-)

MLC "map freak" Man.

Thats great MLCM!

The waterproofing would be really useful in rain soaked Essex (yes rain in one of the driest counties in Britain - ahh how it brings back happy memories of my youth in Manchester :-) ).

If I'm running on trails I usually take an OS map, but unfortunatly the sweat from my hands and dripping brow as I peer at it, seems to be have a nasty corrosive effect on the paper. Thats nice!
