Positive Thoughts - parky - 05-01-2004

Hey Andy, whats wrong with this sentence :-

'Doesn't stop me being a crap runner of course, but it seems I'm now a more purposeful crap runner... '

We'll have less of the negativity off you young man!

Without coming across all 'new agey' (which I abhor, and foregoing my usual cynicism), by whose standards are you a 'crap' runner? By Paula Radcliffe's we're all crap runners! By the your standards two years ago you're really quite a good runner.

In this game the vast majority of us all are competing against ourselves. Even when I'm doing cross country, I'm not troubling the guys at the top, and even though I'm trying to beat the guy in front of me, when it boils down to it, I'm trying to finish in a better position than last time, so I'm really trying to better myself.

Here endeth the lesson....

Good luck for Copenhagen, there are some nice bars in Nyhavn (and thats very pretty), although the little mermaid statue is ...er very little.

Positive Thoughts - El Gordo - 05-01-2004

Fair point, Parky. I'm just a bit gloomy at the moment as I'm still bunged up and immobile. Is there such a thing as a terminal cold...?

Once I'm out and running again, I know I'll be much happier.
