All right, Andy! - pam - 11-03-2003 I'm glad to see you're still running! I haven't done much lately (I'm sure you're shocked by that) but I did get a PR on a half marathon I did on February 16. Ten minutes faster than last year! So I'm pleased about that, even though my new PR is, um, 2:44 (so don't feel bad about 2:20! Anyway, glad to see your website is still up and running (har har, pun, ha ha) pam All right, Andy! - El Gordo - 11-03-2003 Woo Hoo! Yay! It's Pam! Great to hear from you, Pam. For the benefit of others, I'll mention that Pam is an Anglophile from New Orleans or Baton Rouge or somewhere where they eat alligators, who ran the London Marathon in 2002. Great to hear that you're still running, and well done on the half marathon PB, or PR as the Americans prefer to say. I've just done two halfs, and have been moaning about them non-stop ever since. To be fair, the last one was a good race, but it was delayed so long that we all got totally fed up. Actually Pam, I have a couple of friends travelling to New Orleans shortly who were asking for recommendations for good authentic bars and eating places in New Orleans. I can't remember where we went when we were there, so perhaps you can help. Please do stay in touch, and post the URL of your web log, so that others can follow your adventures. Cheers, Andy All right, Andy! - pam - 13-03-2003 Thanks for the welcome, Andy. Here's the URL of my blog: http://www.pyjammy.com/blog but my blog from marathon training can be found at http://marathon.pyjammy.com It's starting to get warm again here, but it's okay because I've started going to a gym, so now I can run in air-conditioning! And I'm excited about doing some strength-training at last. My favorite places to go in New Orleans for food: Jacque-Imo's on Oak Street Felix's Oyster Bar on Bourbon and Iberville. Yum! and for drink, you absolutely HAVE to tell your friends about the Crown & Anchor. It's in my neighborhood, very cute, perfect if they are a bit homesick. It's the only British pub in New Orleans and I spend too much time there! It's just right across the river from the French Quarter, very easy to get to, just hop on the Canal Street ferry and it's a block up the road. And tell them to ask for Pam if they go! ![]() Can't wait to hear about your next race! Mine's not until April 19, when it's going to be hellishly hot and humid, I have no doubt. Sigh. All right, Andy! - El Gordo - 13-03-2003 Thanks for the info, Pam, I'll pass it on. Next race should be Bath on Sunday, but I've got a calf problem, so it's touch and go. Stay in touch. Andy |
