Elton John on the Danny Baker show today - El Gordo - 03-01-2010

Did anyone hear the interview with Elton John on Danny Baker this morning?

I've never much liked Elton John, but the interview was really interesting, and has given me a totally different impression of the man, and the passions that drove him. I'd forgotten he was a Pinner boy (where my dad lives).

Not sure how long it will be online but do try to listen to it. It's in two parts:

EJ interview

They also mention Imhof's in New Oxford Street, now long gone, which was where I had my first ever job. I lasted 5 hours.

Heard the whole thing live; good (and extremely rare) interview; well, more like a convivial fireside chat really. The revelations about listening to new albums for the range of innovative sounds was an eye-opener, as were Sir Elton's tales of touring and learning his trade on the road. His fears for the TV Superstar generation lusrting for instant fame warmed my cockles.
