London Marathon 2014 - El Gordo - 27-09-2012

Might as well get this one in early.

And no, I don't mean VLM 2013.

Another piece of consolatory running apparel arrived this evening from the London Marathon organisers. This time, it's a white running jacket, which at least makes a change from a series of natty fleeces.

My memory and my maths are not my best features, so I can't be certain about this, but I believe my failed 2013 application is my 5th in a row, which means I should have a guaranteed place in 2014. Not that this means much. I could have a guaranteed place in almost any marathon in the world if I paid the entry fee. Doesn't mean I would run it.

But anyway. Here's to London 2014. Big Grin

Fanstastic news! If it's true. I got in last year on a deferred five-strikes-and-you're-in rule, but I thought they were phasing it out. I seem to remember that last year I put this point to you, and you issued a withering riposte, so apologies for insulting your intelligence if it's all in hand.

Yes, I got a 2013 rejection, too.

Well I hope I hadn't been such a cad as to issue a withering response to what was clearly a rare effort on your part to say something useful.

Big Grin

Yes, a joke...

You are right, Dan. They stopped the scheme at least 2 years ago but the organisers were good enough to say that if you were already X years into the scheme, the deal would be honoured. I think I was just about to enter for the 3rd time when they notified me. Whatever it was, they made it clear I was one of the lucky ones. So I presume 2014 will be the last opportunity for people to benefit from it.

Excellent news. So in a year's time it will be Hobart - Almeria - London for you?
