February 2014 - Sweder - 06-02-2014

Still nursing the most aggressive throat infection I can remember, I spent much of Wednesday on the sofa. A few e-mails here, some TV catch-up there. Then I remembered I'd received not one but two copies of The Class Of '92 for Christmas and not yet watched it. So, on it went. What a fabulous documentary.

Yes, I'm a United follower, so I'm bound to say that. I care not. Crafted with gentle care this film gives centre stage not to Beckham or Giggs, or even the latterly-celebrated Nevilles, but to Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt. I'd not heard Scholes pass more than a cursory grunt in all the years since his debut. And who knew that Butt, the scrapper from the wrong side of the tracks, was the real hero of that night in Barcelona? It cheered me up no end. With cameos from Wendy Deng's muse Tony Blair, master of the London 2012 OC Danny Boyle, Zinedine Zidane and Monsieur Cantona, this is a little gem.

No running, but plenty of running-related (Moyleman) business.
We've started signing runners and marshals for the Lewes Marathon test event on 16th March. For those Fleecebook users amongst you, search for The Moyleman and 'like' the page for updates.

Running wise I'm enjoying a complete break. For one thing I'm not right after my Almeria infection, for another my body feels like it needs a rest. The main reason of course is the trails in my neighbourhood are impassable. Old England is sinking. The hills are covered in loose skin, sliding away under foot like slippery porridge. Just walking the dogs is tougher than cross-country skiing.

Be careful out there

Sounds like the key word there is "enjoying". Focus on making the MM a huge success (as I know you will - and that will be a different kind of "success" to more commercial events). You will come back with soul invigorated, and body ready to catch it up.

Love it.
Hope you didn't get flooded down in Lewes.

I have nothing worthwhile, running-wise, to report, aside from news that the Moyleman is starting to flourish. With three weeks to go we are in double figures (runners and marshals), plus esteemed organ Run Brighton is listing the test event and running 1000 words on the story from 1st March.

In other news I got to see some non-league football yesterday.
Here's my match report from the Rookette's battle at Charlton.

Pip pip.

I shall be endeavouring to kick start my running by going along to Lewes AC tomorrow evening ...
