50th Birthday Race - All Invited - El Gordo - 24-04-2007

Some dreadful news to reveal. On Saturday June 30th, I'm 50 years old.

But defiant to the last, I've entered the Dorney Dash 10k:

I've mailed a few likely suspects, inviting them to join me, but thought I'd broaden this out to rope in a few more.

The plan is to do the race (starts at 10 a.m.), then glug a bit of Champagne (which I'll provide). After that we'll go and have some lunch somewhere in one of the local pubs. With a bit of luck I'll track down one by the river.

All are welcome to join us, but please let me know in advance so that I can make suitable arrangements.

Partners and children welcome.

The race itself is a dead flat 10K round Dorney Lake. This is the Eton School rowing HQ, and is the venue for the 2012 Olympics rowing events. It's not the most beautiful of courses, but there's no traffic, and it's fast, with excellent PB potential.

If you're planning on doing the race, don't leave it too late as this race always sells out in advance. (And note that it's a Saturday, not the more usual Sunday.)

It would be great to see you there.

Andy

Have entered via Runner's World - it'll be a nice day out, despite the race distance. Have also got Bewl the following dayEek

Don't worry about the distance, Moyleman. Once you get the first mile or two under your belt, the rest will just zip past, and afterwards you'll wonder what you were so anxious about.

Big Grin

It's just a loosener for Bewl. As you say, a pleasant day out, with a gentle training run thrown in. Can't be bad.
