"Run for Glory" - marathondan - 17-03-2006 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/athletics/4764104.stm Anyone been watching this? I might try and catch it from next week. It can't be as gripping as reading the RC training diaries of course, but it might be an opportunity to point at the telly and shout "NO! Schoolboy error! He should be doing 8 x 400m intervals, not 4 x 800m!" and so on. "Run for Glory" - El Gordo - 17-03-2006 Yes, I saw the first one, about 3 weeks ago, but have been out of the country for every episode since. Among the group are 3 or 4 immensely fat people (including one who is literally double his recommended weight) who struggled to complete a walk of 4 laps of a track in the one I saw. That was 6 months before the race. They must have had a real struggle. But good for them, I say. I know it's just yet another half-hearted twist in the reality TV movement, and the likelihood is that the show's been edited and manipulated like crazy for ratings purposes, but at the heart of it is a quest that many of us can identify with. |
