2006 - February - El Gordo - 08-02-2006 Stuff about February posts here... 2006 - February - Sweder - 08-02-2006 Or is it 'Hoorah'? The Andy Almería post has arrived! Well worth the wait, and for we lucky few what was there, a lovely stoking of memory's embers. 2006 - February - El Gordo - 08-02-2006 Well, the truth is that most of the story had already been covered, so I didn't feel any great urgency to finish it off. (Which reminds me - I must edit it to point people at yours and Antonio's reports for more detail.) Most was written in Almeria, Monday morning. I've not felt a lot of enthusiasm for anything much since then -- have been a bit out of sorts. Achey back, plus more beer than strictly necessary. 2006 - February - Sweder - 08-02-2006 Funny that . . . definitely feeling more aches and pains since Almería. I'm sure it's not alcohol related I was feeling a little blue after we got back. Sunday's run did nothing to lift the mood either. Saved by a good one yesterday, but I'm averaging around 3 hours sleep per night lately. Large hairy wood-dwelling mammals in search of nurofen abound in chez Sweder this week 2006 - February - Mid Life Crisis Marathon Man - 10-02-2006 ...but I have a complaint. [rant] I work hard. I take my job seriously and do it as best I can. I pay my taxes and I keep pretty much out of trouble. I work six days a week, and on Sundays go to church and take my elderly father shopping. I serve on Rotary and am a scout leader. I put my disabled neighbour's rubbish out for her and I feed her cat when she's in hospital. And after I've done all that, I like to relax at the keyboard and pump out a few exclamation marks! Just like these!! It's harmless fun and it gets the pent-up frustration, angst and anger I feel from being such a bloody nice guy out of my system!!! It's not much to ask, and if it weren't for those seemingly innocent little exclamation marks, I'd probably be a maniacal axe-murderer, or worse, stand in the local council elections!!!! Thank you! [/rant] 2006 - February - El Gordo - 10-02-2006 Moderation in everything, old chap. That's, er, that's always... been my motto. Hasn't it?!!!!!!!! 2006 - February - Seafront Plodder - 11-02-2006 I got my swimcap and comb and my paperback book that I'm almost through I got my lipstick and mirror and my suntan lotion and my cam'ra too. I got my beach bag full of all the necessary items for a day in the sun And of course it wouldn't be like me if I didn't bring along - Some sunglasses mmm to hide behind. Sunglasses mmm to cry behind. Sunglasses mmm to die behind. Dear while I lie and cry and sigh and hurt and watch you while you flirt With your somebody new I'm makin' me blue. I brought my towel and transistor radio so I could tell all the time 'Cause the Top Forty records and the weather sports will get you off of my mind. I'll rent an umbrella from the lifeguard fella with the dreamy eyes And you can bet I couldn't forget my old stand-bys - My sunglasses mmm to hide behind. Sunglasses mmm to cry behind . . . Sunglasses mmm sunglasses mmm sunglasses mmm sunglasses Mmm sunglasses mmm. sunglasses mmm. sunglasses mmm. sunglasses . . 2006 - February - El Gordo - 11-02-2006 Er, yeah, OK SP, sorry... I did get your PM about your missing 'sunnies', but I don't have them. They're were in my shoulder bag at one point. I pulled them out of it when we were having that final coffee at Gatwick. I told you I'd found them in my bag, and didn't know where they'd come from. You joyously announced that they were yours, and took them. We were all pretty hungover, but that's a definite recollection. I've not seen them since. 2006 - February - Seafront Plodder - 12-02-2006 Oh ok. I probably left them on the table then. Thanks for your prompt attention anyway... 2006 - February - Sweder - 12-02-2006 When you get up in the morning and the light it hurts your head The first thing you do when you get up out of bed Is hit the streets a-runnin’ and try to beat the masses And go get yourself some cheap sunglasses Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah Spied a little thing and I followed her all night In a funky kinda levis and her sweater’s kind of tight She had a west coast strut that was sweet as molases But what really knocked me out was her cheap sunglasses Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah (solo) Now go out and get yourself some big black frames With the glass so dark thay won’t even know your name And the choice is up to you cause they come in two classes: Rhinestone shades or cheap sunglasses Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah Cheap Sunglasses, ZZ Top 2006 - February - El Gordo - 12-02-2006 I'm sure we'd have noticed if you'd left them behind...? 2006 - February - El Gordo - 12-02-2006 Bad race at Wokingham today guys. Will write it up once I've been and got and eaten our Chinese takeaway.... 2006 - February - Bierzo Baggie - 12-02-2006 I had a bad weekend as well. 6-1 against Fulham and 7-1 against The Aquarium.   2006 - February - Antonio247 - 13-02-2006 I´m glad you had a great weekend in Almería, Andy. I´m sorry you didn´t enjoy the Rioja at the restaurant. Anyway, the Viña Laujar white wine was not bad and the food was quite good, in my opinion. Actually,I am more interested in food than in drinks. I´m sorry you didn´t do too well at the half marathon yesterday. It must be hard to run after such strong backache. Anyway, you will have more chances to improve. I´d take training easy and I wouldn´t do too long runs,at least not longer than two or two hours and a half. Regards Antonio 2006 - February - Sweder - 13-02-2006 andy Wrote:Bad race at Wokingham today guys. That must've been some takeaway . . . where'd ya go, Beijing??? 2006 - February - El Gordo - 13-02-2006 Well I started, then got diverted by a bottle of Champagne and Match of the Day. I'm just writing it now. 2006 - February - El Gordo - 13-02-2006 Was distracted again, this time by the need to rush to Sainsburys to stock up with celebratory wedding anniversary stuff. All that stuff about lobster and smoked salmon in the last entry was rubbish. I've returned from the supermarket with ingredients for the true food of the gods. Liver and bacon with fried onion and mustard mash, followed by bread and butter pudding. Just have to decide between the Barolo and the Yarra Yering. Er anyway, the report will get finished after that. Probably. It's nearly done. 2006 - February - Sweder - 13-02-2006 Barolo? Yarra Yering? Are you planning on a trip to Australia? Are question marks, when used gratuitously and with abandon, equally as annoying as exclamation marks??? I think we should be told!!! 2006 - February - El Gordo - 14-02-2006 Oh dear. "equally as" is a bête noire of mine. One or t'other but not both, they say. Look, I'm mildly drunk, so you must pardon my pedantry. No, I'm not planning a trip to Australia, but I may well be planning another trip to Sainsbury's. I went for the YY which was marvellous. I've written the report but I try not to post stuff after a glass or two of wine. It's to be avoided, rather like "drailing" which apparently is the word for drunken emailing, especially to work colleagues. I'm indebted to www.buzzwhack.com for this information. 2006 - February - Sweder - 14-02-2006 The pedantry is most welcome. I recently supped from the well of Lynn Truss, the Queen of all Pedants but a damned good read nonetheless, so I appreciate those what pick on poor prose, innit? I'm also jealous, having taken a vow of abstainance, at least until after the Brighton Half on Sunday |
