March maundering.
Sweder Wrote:. . . speaking of which, where's all this Iranian Gunboat diplomacy going then, eh? I see the Yanks have been (mercifully) quiet to date, except to say 'No Deal, Noel' on a proposed hostage swap. Perhaps we're only now seeing the real benefits of sticking our necks out to support the Monkey-Puppet Bush  The UN have offered to whack the artists formerly known as Persia with a stick of wet celerey and the EU have threatened to call upon the 'combined economic might' of the Union to smite the perps.

As Ricky Tomlinson would no doubt growl,
Special relationship my arrrse!

It's faintly reminiscent of 'the Iranian hostage crisis' of 1980. If you're unlucky enough to be as old as me, you'll recall that the Ayatollah threatened all sorts of things but eventually released the Americans immediately after Jimmy Carter made way for George H Bush, to ensure that Carter went out on an even lower ebb. We might see the same here. Given Blair's imminent exit, it may be a bit of mischief making to try to deprive him of the curtain calls he seems so desperate for.

Expect this to rumble on for a few weeks, and be resolved as soon as Brown and Blair exchange contracts.

Yes, sorry Cobber - thread hijacking's almost as serious as Piracy :o

I don't think Blair has much 'curtain call' to worry about - the cash for honours scandal's not over yet for one thing.

I hope the sailors get home soon.
As some wag pointed out on the radio the other day at least they're not chained together in orange jumpsuits and made to live on their knees. Kinda makes you wonder who's civilised and who's the barbarians, eh?

The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph
