Au revoir, April.
Phew. Catching my breath here just a little. Managed to miss the Connemara action and only just nipped back in time to catch the BM...

My own running has still amounted to zilch, although oddly enough I'm fitter than ever, even having shed some of those last tricky kilos to get down to my near-ideal weight. The last ten weeks have been a non-stop barrage of work-renovate-work-renovate, the transition between work and reno being a 1,400km commute between here (Sydney) and Adelaide. Along the way we've suffered floods, storms and even an earthquake! And did I mention both Mrs MLCM's car and my car breaking down on the same day? Sounds dramatic, but not quite so dramatic perhaps as Sweder's epic Conne-ultra-mara-thon... that man is astonishing! If he didn't threaten to drink the brewery dry, Guinness should sign him up as an ambassador. He certainly has made me re-think my race hydration strategy.

Whereto from here though? Not too sure. Still have to sell aforementioned Adelaide property, then move remaining "stuff" to Sydney, and then find a bigger, more permanent abode than the one we are currently in. All of which takes time and requires focus, which means the running is suffering still. But the worst of it is behind me - or will be in another two weeks or so.

Hopefully I'll see you on the roads again soon.

Cheers!
Run. Just run.

Boston!
With all the talk being of Connemara and Brighton marathons, I'd completely overlooked the fact that the Boston marathon was also run yesterday/today. I stumbled across live coverage of it on ESPN at work and, being a relatively quiet night shift was able to watch most of the last hour. Sooooo inspiring! A new course record too - sub 2:06 for the Boston course is astonishing... I was gob-smacked watching it and left thinking this new generation of (particularly) Kenyan runners are really taking distance running to new levels. You really have to seriously think now that sub-2hrs may perhaps not be so far away.

Hi MLCMan, the Kenyans are just fantastic aren't they, and so graceful and economic in their running style - sigh.. Glad to hear you are thinking about getting back into your running, but you seem to have been having a very busy time...hope the cars got fixed on the same day too.

Talking of inspiration, I have just watched Eddie Izard's marathons again, talk about humbling.
Phew this is hard work !

Good to hear from you mate. A timely reminder to redouble my focus on work-related matters for a while. Impressed that your lifestyle, far from falling into the kind of disrepair that dashing hither and thither can cause, has had a positive effect on your weight & fitness. Hope you get out there again soon.

The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph

Thanks sw*2 ... I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel! At least, I think that's a light...

Seriously, the end is in sight.

(Sort of).
