As a couple of you here know, earlier this year my wife and I seperated.
Please, no sympathies needed. It was a mutual decision, quite amicable and as I'm sure Sweder will attest, I'm happier now than I have been in a fairly long while.
Anyroadup, around a month ago I found meself a new friend. Her summer sport is wakeboarding and she's looking for a winter activity to keep fitness levels up.
We have talked before about my modest marathon exploits, and last night over a drink she mentioned that she was a handy cross-country runner in her day.
It was then I made the ghastly mistake of mentioning the Brighton 10K and the training schedule that El G was kind enough to find. Well the upshot is that we have both committed to visiting Sam's Jog Shop emporium for shoes and sports bra (for both of us obviously
) , and will start the training schedule together. Whether we'll make the 10K in November depends on a few things, and injury aside, it might be that the start line in Almeria is a more realistic target.
Unluckily for me, I don't think she's the sort of person to back out of a committment once made, so unless I can come up with something really cunning, I may be running again very soon.
I'm a complete bucket of lard at the moment but have no injuries, so we'll see.
