Have just completed week 2 of the 200 sit ups program - today having completed 124 reasonably comfortable sit-ups across 5 sets. Really am feeling a lot stronger in the core, and am no longer collapsing in a fit of cramps at the end of the longer sets. A good program thus far - next up is the "exhaustion test" in a day or two.

Also on to the 2nd day of the first week of the 100 push-ups challenge, which is harder (for me, anyway). But so far progressing OK.

I'm midway through week 2 of the sit-ups and the squats. I'm using a gym ball, which is quite a comical experience. Not sure if it's harder, but is supposed to work the right muscles more efficiently. It's the squats I've found more challenging. They turn my quads to jelly. Quite a good feeling actually - it gives me the feeling that I'm really working them.

Day 2 of week 3 completed: 30+38+23+23+40 = 154! Starting to feel like it's really working. Very pleasing how quickly one can improve if you just stick at it.

Meanwhile the 100 pushups program is progressing more slowly given a poorer starting condition. Even so, in the middle of the second week I'm completing 25 pushups, so that's still a considerable improvement.

154, well done. I would like to think that my newly acquired athletic torso will cause beautiful French women to nudge one another and whisper, 'who is that devastatingly handsome man, he on whose face time has etched its thrilling diary? Mon dieu, I must 'ave 'im at once'.
So far I have only been accosted by a con-artist on Old Street.

I'm not exactly fighting them off either, Tom...except for the trannies in Central Station tunnel, that is.

OK I'm now at the end of week 4 and have completed 245 sit ups in the day 3 session. It's good to be already doing 200+ sit ups but it's beginning to take a long time to get through the entire routine. Still, having coming this far I'll see it through.

Less spectacular is my progress in the 100 push ups programme. I'm struggling to get through 25-30 in a session, and am having to repeat week 2 due to poor performance. Undecided

All in all though, I'm feeling the benefits of the two programmes. Perhaps not showing the benefits yet, but definitely feeling them!

I think the 200 sit-ups program is paying off! I'm also doing a series of 'stairs' every week as well, so that also helps. But this weekend I ran one of the fastest half marathons I've done in a while; and it was a hilly half. Surely it must have something to do with my core being stronger. Yea!!Big Grin

Congratulations, Suzie! You seem to be quite fit. How long did it take you to do that hilly half? Did you manage to do it under two hours?

I´m afraid I´m not doing the sit-ups programme. I don´t like that work-out. I´ve started to go out for a run every other day but just 5 or 6 kilometres. I feel a bit heavy although I´ve lost four kilos.

I'm afraid that the elusive sub-two hour half is still elusive, getting closer though. I did this one in 2:07, which for a hilly half is quite good for me. I'll continue working at it...sit-ups, stairs, running...maybe one day.
