Me too.
Could be a good run, just the 3 of us!
Just went as a spectator last year as it was the day after Beachy Head- making walking a problem, let alone running.
Whereas a full week in between this year.
Enjoyed watching though, as you can see the field go past 3 times without moving from the spot yourself.
They did nice chicken soup too!
All the more enjoyable for the questionable weather.

Well GB, I think spectating is ok, if there's good soup around, but I find that I usually get inspired, and wish I was running
Then again, if I was running I'd probably be wishing I was standing around spectating with a hearty bowl of chowder!
It's a cruel world...........

Has anyone got an idea where the hills are on the course?
I can't find a course profile.

Hi Simon Ho,
After a few attempts, I got the profile at:-
http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-kingd.../197391790
to work.
Just click in the 'show elevation' checkbox and the elevation map window appears down below.
The map didn't show in the window at first, but after resizing it it magically appeared!!
I hope it works for you

The elevation actually makes it look tougher than it is. The climbs at 4 and 9 are relatively sharp but are absolutely manageable for anyone who has run hills in training. I have my PB here and love this course. If you can stay loose between 5 and 9 you will have plenty in the tank for the last four miles
See you there!

Barns Green Half - 2 November
Had a bad start to morning, I arrived in Barns Green and was ushered into a field by a marshal who told everyone to park down a mud track. Everyone started reversing back up the track as they were getting stuck as it was only suitable for 4x4's, I've got a rear wheel drive car with a big lump of a V8 under the bonnet so I was wheel spinning. I told the marshal I wasn't going down the track as I was getting stuck, his response was you can't f**cking drive. I wanted to get out and lamp him, he then told me to park next to a ditch which I did. He then told me to get closer, if I was any closer I would be in the ditch!
It was a bit cold in the morning so I ran with a base layer and gloves, when the sun came out it got quite hot! Anyway, had a good run with a new PB of 1.32 coming in 128th. My aim was to come top 300 to get a different medal (top 100: gold, next 200: silver), what a waste of effort that was, they were the cheapest, nastiest medals ever!
I founds the hills at miles 5 & 10 which slowed up my pace.
I need to let my feet recover, as I suffer from blisters but need to wear compression socks. I've yet to find anti-blister compression socks, Sam just laughed when I asked at the shop. Compeed plasters didn't work this time.
How did you other guys get on?

That takes me back to the early 1990's when the same thing happened to me, but luckily I had passengers to push the car out of the muddy field. It was only a small Ford Fiesta and the passengers got covered in mud from the wheel spins !!

I used my 1000 mile compression socks for both the JSJ and BH Marathon and didn't get a single blister in both races. It must be your feet that need replacing !!
Well done on a good run and a pb. It's looking good for Hastings Marathon (with exception of the blisters)!!

Yes SH, I'm glad I left my flippers at home .
Though my new New Balances don't look very new any more due to the muddy field and the short and sweet mud section on the course.
Nothing that a good scrub won't put right though !
Weather was perfect, I thought and good enough to show the beautiful countryside around there.
With shorts and vest, I felt completely comfortable.
Managed a 1:35 (and the rest), a PB on that course, having only run it once before. Problem was, I ended up hanging around afterwards with people running 1:30, 1:26, 1:17.......... and felt like a snail myself!
Well done on your time SH, with blisters an' all!

We got stuck in the mud, but trying to get out rather than get in!
But that said I managed a PB in 1h 33m 53s - two minutes off my previous best so was very chuffed. Now am aiming for a sub 1h 30 at Brighton in Feb (weather permitting)
