RE: Almeria 2010
Hi all,

I'm really looking forward to the Almeria weekend and last week started some training for the Half Marathon. Managed 2 comfortable 12/13 miles on the Downs. Luckily the rain has taken a break here in Sussex and I managed to get two cold but sunny runs in.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

RE: Almeria 2010 Team RC
Entries for Almería half marathon are already open. It is free for those who took part at the half or 10 km race. Unfortunately, there won´t be the 10 km race this year but if you entered the 10 km last year, you can enter the half marathon for free this year.

EG, I´ve been told that although you couldn´t take part in the race you can enter for free as well.

If you want to enter, just click at "Haga click para realizar su inscripción". ( Click to enter ) After that, click at "Formulario para realizar inscripción - Half marathon entry form . Then, click at the second option, that is, "Participé en la edición 2009 del medio maratón o de los 10 km saludables ( inscripción gratuita )" - " I took part at 2009 half marathon or 10 km fun race ( free entry ). Then, fill in the form. When you finish filling in the form, click at "Grabar inscripción" - " Save entry". If you have any problem, just tell me.

I´m sorry about the 10 km race. Anyway, if some of you intended to do the 10 km race, you can just do one lap of the half marathon. Although you won´t be considered a finisher, you´ll get the T-shirt at the finish and other things apart from our congratulations.

Best of luck

Antonio

RE: Almeria 2010
Thanks Antonio; I'll try to enter tomorrow morning.
I'm afraid I'm unable to do so tonight due to some problems we're having with our train services in the snow.

(There's more to that story but, for now, I'm going to leave it there)

Good luck with the weather, S. I´ve seen something on the Spanish TV. Here in Spain it has snowed a lot as well although not here in Almería. It´s rained a lot.

RE: Almeria 2010
Thank you for the instructions Antonio. I have managed to enter free of charge with the help of your instructions, last year's instructions http://www.runningcommentary.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=433&page=2
and the use of Google Translator.

Also received an email which when translated in English said:-

Your registration will not be confirmed until they check their inclusion in the previous edition. At that time you will receive another email informing you of such verification. If 12 hours is not listed as confirmed contact with Todofondo.com telephone: 950 20 65 35 (from 17 to 20 hours).

I will hopefully therefore get a second confirmation email tomorrow as I entered the 2009 Half Marathon.

I think the lack of a 10K race may have given me a reasonable excuse to miss the annual RC AGM. Sad

RE: Almeria 2010
Yep, saw that one coming Rolleyes

I think the organisers are banking on a lot of 10K runner drop-outs due to the number of free entries they'd have to hand out after the 2009 start debacle. (That might not hold water on second thought: it's not like they make a profit in the first place ... hmmm).

RE: Almeria 2010
Just received my second email to say that the organisers have confirmed payment of the fee (which is free) and therefore I am registered in the XIII Almeria City Half MarathonBig Grin.

Just need the snow to melt now, and my cold to go so that I can start training again.

I guess that the organisers won't be making much money this year unless they increase the number of starters of this years Half Marathon. Maybe they are banking on the 10k runners not opting to step up to HM now that the 10k has been scraped.

It will be a shame if you drop out SPSad.

RE: Almeria 2010
I could be the bearer of some bad news here.

I have just been on the Easyjet website to get Simon's passport number off our booking and it seems that our flight back on Tuesday has been cancelled. There is now only one flight back at 11:25am on the Tuesday.

Can you please check your booking with Easyjet and then we need to decide whether to change to the earlier flight or look for an alternative flight with Aer Lingus or Monarch.

We all need to get the same flight back though because of hire cars.

Not great travel news is it? Where do we stand if they cancel a flight we've booked I wonder?
Let's investigate further and swap notes. No need to rush into something we'll come to regret.
The airlines are in turmoil this week; there may yet be more changes.

It´s a pity if SP drops out and the fact that the return flight has been cancelled. I hope it will work out at the end.

I´ve also got my confirmation email from the organisation.

RE: Almeria 2010
I too think this is a very poor show from the organisers. I hope their decision to cancel the 10K was not taken because they knew they would lose money on the event with so many free places to give away.

If Antonio would be happy to translate I intend firing off an email to register my displeasure.

RE: Almeria 2010
Sorted: my post code attempt was too long.
SP, why not do as Antonio suggested - enter the half for free, run the first loop then turn left at the big roundabout, go to the finish and collect your winnings?
It's as close to 10K as that lot can measure Big Grin Plus you don't miss out on your free race.
It's either that or get out and do some training to run the half properly.

RE: Almeria 2010
Just checked on the Aer Lingus site and they do an evening flight on the Tuesday. Details below:-

AER LINGUS EI907
non-stop Malaga 21:25 Tue 02 Feb 2010
London/Gatwick 23:10 Tue 02 Feb 2010
Price all in is £34.99 per adult including handling fee.

This could be an option when we determine from Easyjet if we can get a 100% refund if we don't switch to the earlier flight.
