Terrific time, all the more special because you didn't really think it was on at all until a few days before.

Allow me to buy you a pint!

Cheers

A.

Thank you everyone - you are all incredibly encouraging. I feel like I've won an Oscar or something rather than finishing 3,245th! My official time, by the way, was 1:09:18 ... to finish in the top half I had to break 1:05, so I missed both my goals, but I am still happy just to have finished in reasonable style. That celebratory hill climb of Nigel's, and Andy's pint of Guiness afterwards went down a treat as well, thanks lads!

The official finishing line photo was a tad ordinary, but for what it's worth, here 'tis.

Back to serious training now I'm afraid.

Do you get to choose which finishing time clock you want?

I wish!

The clock on the left was for the walkers. I was not impressed to find that 7 walkers finished the race faster than I did - in fact the winning walker had already finished the race several minutes before that photo was taken, meaning that not only was I overtaken by a band of butchers* (complete with t-bone steaks), several fairies and a black labrador (twice), but despite starting 15 minutes behind the runners, a bunch of walkers beat me too!!

Oh, the ignominy.

MLC Man.

*what's the collective noun for butchers? A cleaver of butchers? Maybe a murder of butchers??!

Not sure about butchers, but my favourite collective nouns are: a jam of tarts, and a wunch of bankers.
