Finished at last! I must confess to having cheated on the very last stage. The instructions were just too bl**dy cryptic for me and having obtained the correct sequence off the web, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have worked it out myself.

Managed to finish after getting blown up several dozen times . . .
in the end I started several windows and got to the same level so I'd remember what I'd done and could try something different.
Are you all in the briefcase?
If so, the clues in the envelope will tell you the sequence of switches/ wires to cut. This is always the same, except for the last wire (red or blue) - this is determined by the clue on page 4 of the documents.
If I find another one of these I'll leave it alone . . .
