Well my appointment at Wise Sam's Emporium was kept yesterday. I was dealt with by Mad Hair Man TM, who covered the floor with different shoes to try before I opted for a pair of Brookes Glycerin 3's. This is my first venture away from Saucony, but the Brookes fitted a treat so we'll see.
A vague flicker of recognition on Sam's face was enough to earn me 10% discount so I spent that on some socks.
Parked up along the seafront near home. Tis my old haunt and now I realise I've missed it, missed it more than I could ever have imagined. I have pounded that seafront too many times to remember and it felt good to be back.
A racing westerly didn't help, but I knew all the distances and opted to stop after 1 1/4 miles, only walking at the turn to take a swig of water.
The road back to any sort of event distance will be long, and if the truth be told I've been meaning to start for a while now but needed the kick up the (ample) arse to begin. This was a joint run with C. She and I intend to help each other through these early painful runs, and although we both realise that the Brighton 10K is too far too soon, perhaps something late Jan/early Feb may happen.
