So that's (provisionally at any rate) ...
Andy, Antonio, MLCMM, MLCM Jnr, Suzie & Sweder.
And M, of course -- we'll need all the stretcher-bearers we can muster.
I had a really cheering long mail from Suzie recently and she said there was just a chance she'd make it, but Antonio? Did we know about this amazing possibility? If this was already public knowledge, I can only apologise for missing it. Antonio in Australia! Sounds slightly surreal, but would be fantastic to have Suze OR Antonio there, never mind both.
And let me be the first to say how courageous Antonio is to nominate the P2P as his sub-2 hour half marathon attempt. That takes some guts.
As for me, we'll see. My resolve to get back on my running feet has never been stronger, for reasons I'll talk about in a proper post. But come what may, our firm plan is to get to Oz in 2013.
Slightly surprised you say Monday is the latest to leave. I know from initial research that it has to be done via Melbourne or one of the other cities, and is around 24 hours from ZRH, but was presuming it might be OK to depart Tuesday or even Wednesday AM. But anyway, plenty of time to get it sorted.
My aim is to do Almería half marathon or another flatter half under two hours next year.
When I first heard about this trip in 2013, I thought it would be a good chance to celebrate my 55th anniversary, meet our dear Australian friend and spend a few days with the Running Commentary friends trying to do a very tough half marathon. Besides, I've never been to the south hemisphere, which is something I've always dreamt of.
My idea is to leave from here on Saturday the week before the race and come back on Wednesday or Thursday after the race to get here on Freday or Saturday. In all, nearly two weeks. Anyway, there's plenty of time to plan this fantastic trip.
Saludos desde Almería.
