Thanks for this poignant post MLCM. It coincides with the death of a young guy from the Bierzo running community last Sunday. He was the organizer of an excellent race in his village called the Balboa trail which I ran a couple of years ago in memorable snowy conditions. Didn’t really know him well personally although we had a shared a few kms in the Alto Sil one year when he was running dressed up as Minnie Mouse! He had been fighting cancer I suspect even when organizing his race and as we all know these long offroad races take a lot of organizing! I’m sure many people were not aware of his illness. I only knew because I recognized the guy last April in the local cancer unit where my wife was receiving one of her regular check ups (everything ok so far!)

He was only 28.
