More ideas. Around here I’d only really recommend the Aquilianos route (see my training diary entry at the start of June). This event is great as an introduction to ultra running, mountain running or you can simply take it as a very pleasant day’s walk. It’s accessible for everybody. Whether you run, walk or mix the two is up to you!
There’s also the marathon of Toral de los Vados of course, but a marathon in Spain in July wouldn’t exactly be my idea of a holiday.

Another good ‘n is the superb Valtiendas nocturnal marathon which is held in August in a village near near Valladolid (Ryan airlines fly there from Stanstead). I descibed it in a diary entry in July but briefly, it’s run in pairs at night (oo err), there’s an excellent atmosphere and it’s the only marathon I know with glasses of sangría lined up at the drinks stations. Somewhat different, but great fun and being run at night the heat isn’t such of a factor.

I should be able to get to any of the Galicia races and the ones mentioned above.
Also, J P Fuerteventura mentioned a while back a couple of races in Lanzarote. I’d love to get over to the Canary Islands some day (never been). Lanzarote ironman anybody? (only joking).

Sorry, don't know of any decent half marathons. Maybe the one in Vigo RB?
