I watched Some Kind Of Monster last night, the incredible, more-ridiculous-than-Spinal-Tap Metallica Rockumentary on C4 last night. Cameras follow the three surviving band members (their bassist got wiped out in a bus wreck in Sweden in 1986) through creative hell as they struggle to lay down tracks for their first collaborative work in five years. Festering resentments and long-buried angst errupt under the pressure to produce. The results were ugly, tough to watch in places, yet ultimately fascinating. Lars Ulrich completely losing it was some of the most horribly compelling television I've seen in ages Eek

The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph
