Thanks for that link glaconman. I love the running history stories, would like to find out more about some of these sub 2:10 marathon runners from a few years ago (Paul Evans, Ron Hill, Ian Thompson etc..)

Finally watched your/your wife's film a few days ago. Still not convinced about the joys of night running. The pub looked nice though!

I agree to the extent that I think night running on your own can be very spooky. And perhaps it's something best undertaken with a group. But it does have it's merits.

I'm only just finding out about the incredible pedigree of runners that have eminated from this area. They used to call this part of Airedale (around Keighley and Bingley) The Rift Valley because it produced such a high number of quality distance runners.

Running is probably more traditional in your neck of the woods. Here it was seen as an eccentric and profitless pastime until fairly recently, although it must be said, the region has produced some superb individual runners.

Most of the excellent local races date from recent years. Perhaps only The Basque Country can speak of a decent "tradition" of distance running.
