Hi Suzie -- great to hear from you. MLCMM asked me for your email address so that he could remind you, and check what you wanted to do about accommodation.
As for the race, I'm still not sure what to do. I can't see myself running uphill for 13 miles, so may enter as a walker. We'll see. I've been working on my fitness for a few weeks now, but doing more walking than jogging (never mind running). 18 weeks to go to the race, so I have time to build some stamina and drop a few dress sizes.
Have you been running much?

RE: 2013 P2P
I need to get this weekend out of the way - MMLCMAN & Co in town, Never The Bride gig tonight - before plunging into a serious fitness/ weight-loss programme. Death to the sloth within.
Re: Hobart accommodation, I would advocate a repeat of 2011, namely renting a house. We might well need two, depending on numbers. No SP this year. Brave souls are welcome to bunk down with me. Ear defenders de rigueur : I *sing* in the shower and have been known to snore.

RE: 2013 P2P
Yep, me too.
I entered as a walker, mainly because I don't think there'll be too much difference either in my time, or in my mode of travel upwards. A run would rapidly become a walk, and I would have knackered myself in the first few kms of running. So, I might well feel in better shape as a walker and might even finish sooner. Er, not to mention the extra hour given to reach the top.
Next stop, flights and itinerary.

Yep if everyone can let us know their travel dates and general preferences we will organise the Hobart accommodation, car hire etc. At this stage we're thinking of arriving in Hobart on Friday before race day and leaving Hobart (but not necessarily Tasmania) the following Tuesday... similar pattern to previous years, which has worked well.

Motivation!
Someone made a short promotional video of last year's race ... just makes you want to go run up a mountain!
Am I up for this? You'd better believe it!

Hahahahaha ... I had to check the date on that post, Dan, make sure it's not April. What a hoot. That said, who knows? Perhaps it's the way forward. Not for this rock-hopper ...

Dan, reminds me of our new prime minister Tony Abbott, who not long after taking office said in answer to to a difficult question that people shouldn't expect him to be "a suppository of all knowledge and wisdom".
True!

Just wanna wish you guys all the best for the race.
At precisely the same time you're flogging your collective arses up that mountain, I will be on mine watching Gravity in iMax.
Looking forward to reading all about it, and don't forget to enjoy the après run!

RE: 2013 P2P
Yes, good luck all. It's a shame we're not there, but that's life. I'll always wonder whether I'd have been OK travelling, but I know for sure there's no way I'd have been able to get up that mountain this weekend. Perhaps there'll be another chance, even if there are no other RC friends in sight to witness it.
I'll try to join you in a toast if I can get the timings right. What time will the post-race celebrations be, and what are your plans? Do you have a place in mind for an Almeria-style meal and celebratory glass or two? Gah! I've been so blinkered by recent troubles... now that I'm back on my feet I'm only now starting to actually pine for the missed trip and missed opportunity to enjoy the company of cherished running friends. Another time, amigos, another time for sure.
And a special double-thumbs-up for Suzie on her first P2P. I'm sure she'll do what she always does -- has a plan and just gets on with it while the rest of us jabber away about heroism-to-come.
So... All the best for the race, and enjoy the break in that beautiful looking place. As always, we will wait impatiently for the post-race tales.
Hurrah!!!!!
