Cripes.

Talking of getting the band back together, guess what's on ITV4 right now?

The Blues Brothers.

Excuse me for a while...

I'm not sure how appropriate the Hebrew subtitles may be, but here's the great moment...

Ah well, at least I got Askwith's Running Free downloaded before I left the hotel.
Can't wait to get into that ...

Enough of your frissons, El Gordo. We'll have none of that Continental filth. But it would add lustre to the occasion if you were to be so kind as to marshal

RE:
Anent the matter of cut-offs, there's the example of the Jog Shop Jog; runners who fail to reach the top of the Big W in time are sent across it, and spared the ascents. That could work.

I'll be there, Tom, doing what I'm directed to do. 3.5 years of Teutonic discipline has turned me into a highly obedient lapdog. It's only myself and "Health2014.xlsx" whom I still refuse to obey..

I say, frissons, anent, Teutonic discipline ... this forum is all getting right high-brow for us insecure colonials. You'll be serving Pimms and riding to hounds instead of running the damn race at this rate.

Actually ... now that I think of it ...
Run. Just run.

RE:Hounds
Running to hounds would be right on the button.

RA spent 4 years as the 'fox' for a bloodhound pack in Northants. Hunting runners through the countryside, what a hoot! Dogs all friendly of course, only danger was being licked to death when caught. I reckon we were separated at birth. He's 53 this year, wears Five Fingers, (now) hates road running, gadgets and spreadsheets and often gets lost and doesn't care one jot. DNA test required.

This man might get me back in the saddle again.

Well it's looking like this Achilles thing is quite serious. I'm hoping I haven't run my last marathon, but it's not inconceivable. But there's a fair chance that it won't be a good time to attempt my first hilly offroad marathon, even 11 months from now.

I've also noticed that the race date is Mothering Sunday, which tends to become "Wifing Sunday" when the rugrats aren't yet old enough to fully organise breakfasts in bed, flowers etc.

However, a day trip on the Saturday to walk the course might not be out of the question...

And let's face it, I'm rather more likely to make it to Lewes than Almeria (or Hobart). One might say it would be churlish not to...

Hey @sweder, does The Moyleman deserve a special sub-forum up there at the top? We might start getting a few more visitors as the race plan unfolds.

Sorry to hear what sounds like it might be grim news, Dan. It would be great to see you (and the fam) as and when and in whatsoever capacity. Sounds like this might be a unique opportunity to meet a whole bunch of RCers, with quite a few thinking about making a weekend of it.

The Saturday walks will happen. We have to mark the course the day before to ensure maximum signs remain up on the day. This offers the chance to walk small or large stages. We'll prep route maps with instructions for sign deployment. I need to get my head round how and when we set up water/ feed stations and the halfway house (most likely a marquee on Southease village lawn, TBC) - probably incredibly early on Saturday morning.

RE: March Is Moyleman Month
We opened pre-reg in November, for local club runners to register their interest.
We did this partly to ensure local runners got first dibs on places and partly to guague reaction and likely numbers overall.

In the past two weeks we've had circa 140 entrants declare for the full distance. This is more or less what we'd hoped/ expected. We think we can add around 100 more to that when we go public with race entries.

If anyone here wishes to register for the race please send name, DOB and club name (if applicable) to moyleman2015@hotmail.com. You will get a confirmation e-mail to explain what happens next.

Plans/ preparations have been thwarted/ delayed somewhat by a number of factors. One of our team has been forced to drop out and the remaining two of us have been swamped with work. December is a key month. We need to get our website up and running, set a fee and open entries proper.

We're not yet firing on all cylinders, but we are still holding course!
On, on!

The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph
