August is Olympic
Here they come, the games of the pharmaceutical Olympiad.
Cynicism runs higher than the pulse of Rio's steamy street life. Athletes glance at one another, wondering if they're about to be mugged, not in the dark corners of the Copacabana but right here on the brightly-lit start line.

In the midst of all the hullabaloo about Zika, WADA and state-sponsored larceny, lands a tale to boost the flagging Olympic spirit. Not only is this story forged on the mean streets of Lewes, host of the legendary Twitten Run, Pea-Rolling and best known for burning everyone and everything once a year, this glimmer of joy was made possible by the very ordinary people of Lewes AC, aided and abetted by funds raised by our very own Moyleman.

Daily Telegraph chief sports writer Paul Hayward takes up the story ...

Crowd funding makes Olympic Dream a reality

The Olympics haven't got their hooks into me yet. It's always a cool start until the track and field.

And anyway, with England winning the cricket today AND QPR seeing off Leeds 3-0 in the first game of the season, I've had bigger fish to fry. I'll get round to Brazil in a few days.

Talking of "beautiful articles", I found this one (below) rather touching the other day. The sad confession is that I'd probably not bother having read it if it hadn't been about a player who plays for my favourite team. A lot of good stuff goes on that we don't hear about. But it made me realise how valuable it is for charities to get people like footballers and celebs involved. Suddenly we take them more seriously when they are connected with people we like and admire. Sounds obvious, I know, but it only hit home when I saw the article and immediately felt engaged by it.

A quick note. Still alive, not running yet as no green light from the Doc, post-op. I feel fine, am walking heaps so expect I'll rejoin the hillside lopers, the Cats and the Ropers, before too long. That said I'll be down on base fitness.

My thoughts are turning towards Almeria. If I do get going in September I could set up a 'get round' programme for the Half. I don't want to drop down to the 9K but had considered it an option, should my rehab take too long.

The Cat is ready when you are... and don't think that my fitness will be much better than yours.  It's a long road trying to keep my body in any kind of shape.

And there is no question of not doing the 9k... you could run the Half now if you had to.
There is more to be done

Be bold guys - consider the Almeria half a training run for the ... Moyleman...?!
Run. Just run.
