2011: The Year Ahead
Just a quick post to say hello, I'm still alive.

As with a few others here abouts, life lately has been very, very busy which hasn't allowed for a running routine, sadly, or regular posts here at RC. Only race on the horizon for me is the Point to Pinnacle on Nov 20 at the other end of the year. I would hope to get at least a couple of fun runs and half maras in before that, but we'll have to see how we go.

Incidentally, both Sweder and Seafront Plodder have pledged to run the Point to Pinnacle this year - if anyone else fancies a trip to the antipodes, Mrs MLCM and I would love to see you. We can even host a few of you in Sydney, as well as escorting you to the deep south for the race. It's SP's 50th birthday around that time (and mine just a few weeks prior!) and Sweder's birthday is around then too, so a "few" celebratory drinks would naturally be on the agenda... although I gather that's pretty typical for an RC event of course... Big Grin

Any other takers?
Run. Just run.

I would LOVE to be there, and am still hoping it might happen. My big problem is with availability of sufficient time though. This year, with the move to Switzerland, and visitors, I'm struggling for time. What's the minimum time needed to make a trip Down Under worthwhile?

72 hours. 96 if you want to do the race.
I did Sydney in 7 days including managing the World Dental Congress & a full day in the Blue Mountains. It was worth it.

The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph

Good to hear from you, MLCMan. Here's hoping that you can at least keep your hand, erm, foot, in through the year, on the way to what will undoubtedly be a climactic climb in November!

I think jet lag will be the biggest factor. You need 24-30 hours to fly to Hobart, and then sufficient time to get over the jet lag before running 21.4km up the sodding mountain.

A quick trip would seem to be not really an option?
Run. Just run.

Hello MLCM. Glad you're still alive and well. Hope you make it to the top in November. Sounds like quite an event. I like the idea of not having to run back down again, certainly.
