An interesting choice for your allegory my friend.
The BHM was the subject of much chatter before, during and after the Seaford Half this morning. Those that have been there, done that and got the T-Shirt reckon it's one of (if not) the toughest marathons on offer south of Watford. For the rest of us it remains a possibility, albeit in close proximity to the fabled Jog Shop Jog, a run I am committed to in October.

There's some idle banter amongst the Jog Shop Joggers concerning these races, the Amsterdam marathon (quite the opposite, being flat and fairly quick), but more exciting for this particular plodder, Cape Town and the Two Oceans. There's every chance I may have just signed up two more willing souls for our South African Adventure next April. There's talk of liveried running vests and everything - more on the JSJ forum soon.

Otherwise, great to hear you've come through your recent challengers stronger, more determined and somewhat better off all round. Good luck with that first couple of chugs along the canal Wink

Thanks Sweder. It's that momentum thing that I constantly go on about. Once I get out there a couple of times I'll be fine.

Hell, I may even do it this evening. Eek

Good news about the Two Oceans, though at the moment I'm as far from the TOM as I am from.... Cape Town itself.

A six month contract eh? That, as it happens, is about the same duration as a marathon training schedule. Coincidence, or what?

Good news, all the same. Now you can politely show that American boss the dictionary entry for 'pontificate'. Or just rub his nose in it. Or maybe he's not even worth it. Maybe just send his email address to Spammers' World for a laugh.

Ah, retribution ... 'tis a wonderful thing Wink
Run. Just run.

Congratulations on the new job Andy! It is funny how life seems to work out - and usually for the better, although at the time we can't see that happening.

Now to slowly start getting out on the running path again and life will be perfect!

I've been trying to keep up my half marathon distance since London and seem to have managed that at least.

Take care and good luck with the new job!

Congratulations on your new job, Andy! I´m very glad that everything is getting better. As the Spanish proverb says "Nunca es tarde si la dicha es buena" - "Never too late to do well", although in your case it has been quite quick.

Regards

Antonio

Hi Antonio, how are things in Alméria?

We have a saying here that was possibly best applied a few weeks ago:

Iligitmum Nil Carborundum - Don't let the bastards grind you down.

Looking forward to seeing the old chap back on the road/ canal path any time now Smile

And don't let them steal your dinner money on your first day at the new place...

Tell them your old school, sorry, office, was twice as tough as this one, and 'peanut' the tie of anyone who looks like they want to argue. Basically, get your retaliation in first.

See, anyone who says that a South East London comprehensive school education teaches you nothing, is clearly talking nonsense. It taught me loads of stuff - I just haven't found an exam that requires me to repeat it all yet...
