Pinsent Sticks His Oar In
Matthew Pinsent, Olympian, former partner of Sir Steve Redgrave, has announced his participation in the 2006 Flora London Marathon. He will lead a Times newspaper team, running on behalf of the Stroke Association - one of the 2006 official event charities.
There's a nice article in Times 2 today, including details of how you can join Pinsent's team - there are 30 places up for grabs. The catch is you a) should be a novice and looking to get fit, and b) you have to raise a cool grand for the charity.
What intrigues me, and Pinsent alludes to this in the interview, is the prospect of Pinsent and Redgrave lining up against one another. For there surely cannot be two more competitive souls heading for Greenwich Park this April. I was pretty sure I'd go along to cheer on the RC and JDRF runners this year; now I'm certain.
