Eeek, 4 weeks to go and no training.
Just an update. Yesterday afternoon I had to go to a DIY store on one of the estates about 3km from where I live. I needed to buy some ply boards to replace a bit of flooring. Anyway, basically, the piece I bought was too big to go in the car. At this store, they put the board on a 2 wheeled trolley thing so that you can carry the board easily to the car. I then had to wheel my 172cm X 93cm plyboard plus 3 240cm batons the three kilometers home.
Of course, once home I then had to collect the car. And here's where the story starts. I thought to myself, that as the ankle seemed to be OK, it would be a good little tester to jog back to collect the car. So, I changed into shorts, t-shirt and running shoes. Warmed up and off I set. Things were fine until about 2 1/2 km then started the pain so I walked the rest.
My routine this week has been 1 x 600mg ibuprofen AM and PM. Ibuprofen gel applied to the ankle 3 times per day. Ice when I remember.
As I could feel the ankle all evening I decided to talk to my doctor this morning. He poked and prodded, got me to walk on my toes, on my heels, rotate the joints etc and came to the conclusion that it's nothing serious. He concluded that for the moment a sports massage or a physio would not be beneficial and that what I need to do is increase the ibuprofen to 4 x 600mg ibuprofen per day, apply the gel as I am doing and insted of ice, soak the anke in fairly hot salt water morning, lunch and night. The doctor thinks that a week of this and everything will be fine and dandy.
Let's hope he's right.
