Today represented the last chance to get in a modest tapering run prior to race day, the intervening time being largely taken up with travelling there and its associated hustle and bustle. Unfortunately, it was too blasted hot to run in the morning, being 38C and muggy with it, but fortunately a slightly cooler change blew through in the afternoon and I was eventually able to sweat out a few kilometres a little after 5 p.m. It went pretty well and 45 minutes of uninterrupted running has left me feeling confident enough ahead of the race on Sunday. It also completes the running month of January, with just shy of 150 kilometres in my log, my best running month since March last year, and I hope, just the start of many great running months to come this year.
If possible, I'll squeeze in another, very short run before I leave on Thursday. Yep, the day is nearly upon us!
In commemoration of the event being so nigh, I'll leave you with the one and only Almeria theme song...
Funny song. I remember the man shouting "la chochona" at the "tómbola" raffle box. It was a doll called "Chochona".
I'll bring a famous song in Spanish about Almería sung by Manolo escobar, who was from the province of Almería and who also sang "Que viva España". I the video you can see some interesting places in Almería.

Have a safe journey, MLCMM and all the amigos/as who are coming to my home town, and best of luck next Sunday!
