Interesting. I see the virtue in laying off the beer - it's one of the quickest ways to shed poundage for us regular imbibers. Paradoxically beer, at least the black variety, is now integral to my weekly training. Tomorrow night I'm meeting up with a mate in London for a 'controlled session'. It may all be bollocks but I do see improvement in my Sunday performances after a few pints of Guinness on the Friday.

Almería without the partying?
It's possible. You managed to abstain until after the race this year (though the wagon was well and truly wheel-less 24 hours later). A half and several days 'rack and ruin' is not ideal eight weeks out. Perhaps we should organise our own hilly half on the same day? A flog round the Jog Shop Jog route would be good prep for those Cape Town climbs.
