Salute single Magpies? Is that like
'Good morning Mr Magpie. How are you and your family?'
My Stepfather tought me this precise phrase; it's the only thing he told me that I ever committed to memory (well, there's not much room in there).
The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph
I used to be similarly courteous to magpies, but I've changed my ways. Now I curse and throw stones at 'em. Horrible, nasty buggers. I had a right go at one on Sunday, just before... just before I was bitten by that dog....
Gulp.

Hi Andy, thanks for you comment on my blog!
Ive been careful so far to balance my eagerness with awareness of overtraining=injury, but I welcome your critique!
As for scales, Ive not got a set at home, and I try to weigh myself at gym before I work out (thou sometime i forget!) so that i get a true reading, although I do drink at least a litre of water when im there...
Having said that, it would be interesting to weigh myself before, and after my workout, to see what the difference is, so I may do that tomorrow-if anything, it will give me something to blog about!

Good to see you found your way over here, Lizzie. I hope you'll linger a while. (For the benefit of others, Lizzie is headed for Dublin, and has started a blog at http://roadtodublinmarathon2007.blogspot.com/)
I weigh myself every day but I don't take much notice of individual readings. I put them in a speadsheet, and calculate the average once a week, having first removed the highest and lowest figures. Over a period of time, this seems as good a way as any to track trends.
The longer term trends are much more useful than individual days. You often get rogue figures. You can skip breakfast, have a lettuce leaf for lunch, run 10 miles and go to bed with an apple for supper, and the next morning the scales will tell you that you're 2 pounds heavier than the previous day. And the reverse happens too - particularly after alcohol. It's usually something to do with fluid -- too much or not enough. But over a week, these things get ironed out. The important thing is not to get disheartened if you're doing all the right things but get the odd high reading. The other important thing to remember is that gym sessions are likely to produce muscle. It's quite common for regular gym-goers to put on weight. Don't worry if you do. What you'll find is that your shape changes for the better. Blubbery legs become well-toned legs even though your weight stays the same.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I have actually started on a spreadsheet today, with inches and weight lost. Dont expect to loose weight every time, but i know that ive got a bit to loose, thats lingered since i had my son, refusing to budge til now!
Hi!
Yes, its this sunday, and its in Thundersley, Essex.
Had to go to doctor today to get clearance to run because I was involved in a car accident yesterday-other than some limited internal bruising from the seat belt im fine, as it was only a minor accident (although the car I was driving was written off by transit driver), so doctor says I can run, but to take it easy.
Dear Lizzie,
Great blog and congratulations of having so much energy! I agree with you, impossible is nothing so that you will get your Dublin Marathon.
I am Spanish, I am like a fish (I like swimming) and quite lazy, but this forum is plenty of attractive men :RFLMAO: so that one day I decided to do my own HalfMarathon. Hoping you will came to see it also
Happy birthday, Andy. Congratulations on that one hour 10 km race arriving at the finish together with Sweder, Nigel and perhaps someone else from this forum. What a great present! I´m sure that the celebrations will be wonderful. I´m looking forward to the race and party reports. I wish I could have been there!
I see one has become three.
Is this some clever device linked to hits on the site/ editors' posts/ runs completed, a natural progression . . . or am I bored on a Sunday afternoon and in much need of a life?
