I'm wondering whether a good policy would be to keep the newest shoes for long runs only (say 10 miles plus) and use older ones for shorter runs. That may sound like nonsense but I think the risk of leg-hammer damage is only great on long runs, maybe unless you're running 6 times a week (which I will never be). Then maybe I could eke the lifetime out to 2 years. Of course this would require a new field on the spreadsheet...
