3 miles. The freezing weather continues. Unsure of the temperature but my car windscreen was iced up as I left the house, and I spent the run staring ahead through clouds of breath. My pace seems to have settled down to roughly 12 minute miles, though I will waste no energy on worrying about time. At this early stage, it seems far more important to continue building endurance, stamina, muscle, resolve and fitness, and losing weight, than worrying about the whereabouts of small, and pretty arbitrary clumps of seconds.
I marked my “feelgood factor” score down slightly this evening because I felt a bit tired. Maybe this is connected with the late night I had last night, or just a consequence of three runs in 3 successive days. No runs for the next 2 days, though I’m supposed to be doing some cross-training on one of those days. A good walk on Saturday would be useful, though I’m short of daylight-time that day. Then, on Sunday, my long run; this time a 9-miler. This will be my new record distance, beating the 7 I did 2 Sundays ago.
When I got back this evening, I returned to the task of trying to plan some races for my long-run Sundays in the coming weeks. Reading Half Marathon on March 10, and a 20 miler in Worthing on March 24, look good, and fit in quite well with the schedule.
I think I need some new shoes. I calculated that I’ve run only about 200 miles in this pair of Asics Nimbus II, though given my weight that might be about right. One of the seams has come apart and has started to rub when I run. I’m in Reading on Saturday to see QPR, and will try to fit in a visit to Sweatshop.
