Awful weather. The rain has been crashing down since one o'clock this morning. Still going strong, 20 hours later. It hasn't stopped.

Four big races this year: Almeria Half, Wokingham Half, Bramley 20, Zurich Marathon. Every sodding bastard one of them teeming from start to finish.

But I made it with 4 minutes to spare.

Now, in the finest traditions of sports reporting, by the time you write it up, I fully expect the last mile to have been run in a shade under six minutes, and for you to have gone at least half an hour quicker had you not stopped to help the old lady/sick child/lost dog/pregnant woman across the road and away from a terrible danger they had failed to spot at the 18 mile mark. Never underestimate a Hollywood ending...

In the meantime though, get utterly ratted.

A perfect end to a perfect day.
In truth SP 'phoned the news through as I supped my first (of many) pint of Beamish.
Since then it's been joined by many brethren (sunk watching United's warrented victory over the Arse in The Bowler, a Parisien Beamish hostilry) blended with Tequila, a most ordinary red wine and no small measure of champagne. Gawd bless ya Andy, and very well done.

Mick - the truth just might be stranger than fiction..... Not the 6 minute final mile, no. Very far from it. But when I was brain-dumping this evening after tending to my exploding wife (more of that some other time), I was struck by the good karma I may have stacked up today.

Ah fook it. I'm somewhat tired and emotional.

Not that pissed actually. Spent 2 fruitless hours wandering through Zurich city centre in that bastard freezing rain, looking for a pub that would show me some Prem football. Gave up. I know no results, but am shortly going back to the room where BBC1 will sort me out. Have a couple of beers as a cheeky accompaniment.
