Congratulations Iceman - that's a remarkable effort.
Something that really hit me from your post-lunacy remarks was the closest you came to quitting was right near the end of the whole ordeal.

A lot of runners talk about the 'early run blues', where you get the feeling that it would be so much better to head off for a cuppa or a beer somewhere warm & cozy in the first 20 or so minutes of a run. But I also get that weird end of run desire to just stop running. Overall distance doesn't seem to come into it - I get this on training runs, 10ks, 12ks, halfs and the few full marathons I've done. It starts just as you realise the end of the run is nigh, and the compulsion to pull over and walk is alarming.

Once again, hats off to you. I have no doubt that Robert's parents are extremely proud of what you have achieved in their sons' name.
